The Department of Africana Studies wishes you all a Happy Juneteenth! On June 19th, 1865, the news of emancipation finally made it to Galveston, Texas more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Congratulations to our Africana Studies undergraduate and graduate students on the successful completion of their degrees. We are deeply proud of your academic achievements and look forward to the meaningful contributions you will make in your future endeavors.
