Peachtree Aikido Atlanta as a national treasure? You decide...

Peachtree is one of very few dojos in the country to offer Iaido instruction. Iaido is a traditional Japanese martial art focused on the precise, controlled movements of drawing, cutting, and resheathing a sword.

Peachtree’s Chief Instructor Blue Spruell is among the highest ranking Iaido instructors in the US. He began his study of Iaido in Japan nearly 30 years ago, and now teaches Iaido around the US and abroad.

“Iaido is much more than a collection of sword techniques from centuries past,” Spruell Sensei says. “Iaido is a true martial art, a path to personal reflection and refinement.”

These two awesome brothers K and A are residents of Piedmont Heights in intown Atlanta, and have trained Aikido at Peachtree since they were each about six years old. Both started in the kids program and are now making the transition to adult classes. While visiting family in Turkey this summer, A and K trained at an Aikido dojo in Istanbul. We can’t think of two better ambassadors of the Peachtree community out in the world! So proud of you both!
