The Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award is given to one graduating senior student majoring in chemistry. This award recognizes a student who has shown exceptional proficiency as an undergraduate research scientist in the areas of research leading to publications, lab citizenship, and innovation and independence.

This year’s Excellence in Research award recipient is Anna Cai. Her dedication in the Davies lab has resulted in her mastery of an extensive list of lab techniques, multiple presentations and a first-author publication all in two short years. Way to go, Anna!

Each year, students are invited to nominate a graduating senior for the Student Choice Award. Nominees are seniors who have contributed significantly to creating an inclusive and welcoming community in chemistry and impacted the success of other chemistry students. The award went to Thalia Le this year!

The undergraduate Excellence in Chemistry Award is given to one senior undergraduate student majoring in chemistry. It is the Department of Chemistry’s highest distinction for an undergraduate student and honors a student who has excelled in all areas of their education during their time as a chemistry major.

This year, this award ALSO went to Thalia Le for her numerous contributions to the chemistry community, remarkable academic strength, and success in research in the Liotta laboratory.

Kyle Kairys really dug in to learn several new areas of physical chemistry to successfully complete an honors thesis in the Ribeiro lab. His persistence paid off with the receipt of the 2021-2022 ACS Award in Physical Chemistry!
