Katie, Class of 2019, is now a sophomore at College of Coastal Georgia, studying Early Childhood Special Education in hopes of becoming a teacher. She is finding a way and giving back in honor of her learning experiences at The Howard School. But her journey wasn’t always so easy. “Having a learning disability can be frustrating for me at times and hard for me to cope with. Some things come easy for me, and some come slower for me."

Katie plans to continue returning to Howard each summer as an assistant teacher during Summer Safari. “I am thankful for all of the strong bonds that I have developed with the staff, coaches, and students at Howard. Howard is like a second home for me.” Katie’s advice for current Howard students is to “step out of your comfort zone! This can be nerve wracking, but it is so important!”
