Happy Norooz ✨🌷
Norooz, the Persian New Year, means “new day” and is celebrated on the first day of spring! 🌱
It is a holiday celebrated by Iraqis, Iranians, Afghans, Turks, and Kazakhs. It commemorates the beginning of Spring, new beginnings, and fresh starts. 🌸🕊️
Observers of Norooz set up a symbolic spread of meaningful elements in their homes. The spread is called a Haft-seen. “Haft” means seven, and “seen”6 is the letter S. The spread has seven elements, all beginning with S (in Farsi)! 🪺✨
Thank you to Ms. Sara for setting up this lovely Haft-seen and teaching the students more about Norooz and its importance!
Turning scraps into something special! 💫
Our little 4K learners had a blast making their own paper using just water, a blender, and scrap paper! ♻️

Building Strong Foundations with Olivier Quenis at DVIS!
We had the pleasure of welcoming Olivier Quenis, inspector from the French Ministry of Education, whose visit focused on mathematics education and the power of intentional learning. Olivier was deeply impressed by what he observed in our classrooms—where teachers make learning visible, meaningful, and connected to real-world concepts. Every lesson has purpose, and it shows in the strong academic foundations our students are building.
He praised the quality and dedication of our teachers, noting how they bring our school vision to life with passion and creativity. Olivier also led a workshop, sharing the latest tools and methods for engaging students in math, helping our educators further empower young problem-solvers.
But what stood out most? The joyful, collaborative atmosphere at DVIS—where rigor and creativity go hand in hand and where teachers, students, and families come together as one vibrant community.
At DVIS, we don’t just teach—we inspire. And that’s why our families choose us.
Strengthening Language Learning with Claire Marteau at DVIS! 🇫🇷
We were honored to welcome Claire Marteau, pedagogy advisor to l'AEFE (The accrediting agency for french schools abroad), whose visit focused on language development across our trilingual curriculum. She praised our unique approach, highlighting how DVIS seamlessly blends French pedagogy with Project-Based Learning, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Project Zero, empowering teachers as architects of their students' learning journeys.
Claire commended the strength of our program, noting how we make foundational skills visible and meaningful across languages. To further support our educators, she led an inspiring workshop, sharing valuable resources and strategies to reinforce our multilingual approach and enhance student engagement.
At DVIS, language is more than communication—it’s a path to critical thinking and cultural connection. And this is why our families choose us.

Little hands, big traditions! 🥮🧑🍳🍴
Our preschool and elementary students had so much fun making their own galettes for Galette des Rois ✨
Galette des Rois, or “King Cake,” is a French pastry traditionally eaten to celebrate Epiphany on January 6th. The galette is made with flaky puff pastry filled with frangipane, a sweet almond cream.
Inside the galette, a small charm, called a fève (often a tiny porcelain figure), is hidden. The person who finds the fève in their slice is crowned king or queen for the day and wears a paper crown that accompanies the cake. It’s a festive and delicious tradition enjoyed with friends and family! 👑✨
