Last night, the Springmont community paid tribute to two extraordinary teachers – Sam Newman and Livia Osorio, who are retiring this year. They have touched the hearts and minds of countless students and families over the past three decades, becoming legends that will be both long remembered and forever missed. Thank you to all the current and alumni students and families who joined us on campus for this special celebration. As one guest said, you never really leave Springmont, so this isn’t goodbye. We wish Sam and Livia the happiest retirements!

We are so proud to send 13 amazing individuals on to the next steps in their educational journeys! Their kind, wise, and humorous comments at our 23rd Middle School Commencement Ceremony last night were a testament to their preparedness, compassion, and intelligence. They are without exception self-directed, resilient, informed, determined, socially conscious, collaborative, and resourceful. Congrats to the Class of 2026!!

Tomorrow is the last day of the 2025-26 school year, and we’re going to miss our students during Summer Break! Their authentic inquisitiveness and enthusiasm for exploratory learning are matched only by their independence, creativity, and resourcefulness. We look forward to seeing some students at our summer programs and camps, and others when we return to class in August!

Thanks to our wonderful and generous families, today’s Employee Appreciation Luncheon was extraordinary! Delicious salads, sides, main dishes, and desserts were enjoyed by all! Thank you to everyone who contributed and to those who decorated, set up, served, and cleaned up!

Former Springmont student and parent Kabir Sehgal and his mother, Surishtha Sehgal, have donated an autographed copy of their most recent children’s picture book, Himalayan Nights, to Springmont’s library! Media Center Specialist Leslie Wachter shared the book with Jeanie’s Primary class this afternoon, and students were happy to explore the captivating sights as sunset turns to night in the Himalayan Mountains.

Springmont’s 23rd Middle School Commencement Ceremony will be held in the Pavilion this Thursday, May 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m.! We look forward to celebrating these students and know you won’t want to miss hearing each of them speak about their Springmont experience and plans, hopes, and dreams for the future. Congrats to the Class of 2026!

This afternoon, Elementary & Middle School students relished all kinds of Field Day activities – from tug-of-war, dashes, sack races, and water relays to ball-catching, inflatable slides, and the opportunity to soak staff members and trustees! Thank you to the parent volunteers, teachers, and PE Teacher Tiffany Orem for an afternoon of joy and camaraderie!

Springmont’s Toddlers were not left out of today’s Field Day fun! Guided by parents, toddlers enjoyed an inflatable ball pit, sidewalk painting, water play, bubbles, and more!

This morning’s Primary Field Day was so much fun! In addition to obstacle courses, ball toss games, water play, sno cones, and inflatable slides, students enjoyed a treasure hunt, a car wash, relay games, and more! Thank you to our parent volunteers, teachers, Middle School students, and PE Teacher Tiffany Orem for an amazing Primary Field Day!!

Academic lessons will give way to Field Day tomorrow, but for today, students, Toddler through Middle School, are fully engaged in learning, inspired by their curiosity and imaginations and fueled by perseverance and an intrinsic love of learning. Extraordinary!
