The C.G. Jung Society of Atlanta serves to provide a place of community for those of us drawn to the ideas of Carl Jung. www.jungatlanta.com

It offers an opportunity, both individually and communally, to gain a broader and deeper understanding of ourselves as part of a larger story, a larger purpose. In listening to others' stories, others' metaphors, we develop clarity and meaning about our own extraordinary journey. Welcome to exploring the larger story, the metaphors and meanings as we share our journeys. Our monthly lectures and wo

Thank you to Dr. Jerry Wright for an inspiring discourse on the wisdom of psychological mysticism and reimagining the narrative of God.

🌑 Stan Marlan, PhD
The Dark Tremendum: Psychedelics & the Opening of the Numinous

A deep dive into ego death and rebirth, terror and awe, darkness and illumination. In this online lecture, Jungian analyst Stan Marlan reflects on how psychedelic experiences open encounters with the tremendum—where fear, ecstasy, and sacred chaos dissolve the ego and re-vision the Self.

Drawing from early experiences at Millbrook with Timothy Leary, Richard Alpert, and Ralph Metzner, alongside Jung’s The Red Book and his own seminal writings, Dr. Marlan explores a central question:
✨ Can numinous experiences be psychologically integrated—or do archetypal forces themselves transform the soul?

The devil doesn’t always tempt you with sin—
sometimes he tempts you to stay silent. 🩸

Secrets rot from the inside out. They warp the mind, twist the soul, and make the truth feel heavier every day you carry it.

Jung wasn’t just being poetic—he knew that what you hide owns you.

💭 What’s the cost of keeping yours?

“Since I first encountered Lionel Corbett, I have always kept one ear cocked
for his wise, exquisite voice, just in case he spoke.
Lionel was a professor of depth psychology at
Pacifica Graduate Institute in
Santa Barbara California. He was a genius in identifying and articulating
the religious function of the psyche in personal, razor-sharp language that
engaged you in just the way your soul could hear. He heard the question you
didn’t quite know how to flesh out and responded in a way that satisfied
more than you knew you were asking – in kind, authentic wisdom.
The world has lost a magnificent teacher and human being.”

🕊️ “Spiritus contra spiritum.”
On this 90th anniversary of AA’s founding (June 10, 1935), we remember a quiet but pivotal moment in its origin story — a letter from Dr. Carl Jung to Bill W., written in 1961.

In it, Jung described alcoholism as a “spiritual thirst for wholeness,” a misguided longing for union with the divine. He saw recovery not as mere abstinence, but as a spiritual awakening — one that could be sparked by grace, friendship, or a deeper education of the soul.

✨ “The helpful formula,” Jung wrote, “is: spiritus contra spiritum” — spirit against spirit.

As we honor 90 years of recovery, may we continue to carry this deeper understanding forward: that healing isn’t just about sobriety — it’s about transformation, connection, and the sacred work of becoming whole again.

Carrying dreams that aren’t our own can weigh heavy on the heart. 💭✨

Jung reminds us: “The greatest burden a child must bear is the unlived life of its parents.”

Let’s break cycles, live authentically, and set the next generation free.
