It took about 17 years to wake up to this. Growing up in New York, this would have been just another snow day 🎉

This little girl is three – she benefits from having an older sister, and she loves to find motor activities. We are continually up in the bar for her. Her friends are noticing her capabilities and wanting to strengthen their fine motor – this is the beauty of allowing children to guide us.

The Rising 4s made their alphabets which they use during music and movement. They sing out the letter song while performing midline activities - a fun and effective way to learn. Did you know that when you sing about a concept, that you retain up to 90% of the content? Did you also know that you can’t read until you can cross the midline!

One of the reasons why we have early readers is because we engage in midline activities each and every day. We also understand that the brain learns through movement! All ❤️ kids are incredible and they can learn anything!

Teacher training today kicked off with CPR – if you’ve never taken a CPR class, please book one. Thank you, Eyes on Health CPR for the excellent training.

Teachers, parents, grandparents - anyone who looks after a child should have an active CPR accreditation before they are entrusted to care for your child. We were shocked to learn that 2 of our new hires we’re not required by their former preschools to have CPR.

This is a state law and failure to have active CPR is a sign that your child is not in safe hands.

Parents – check your preschool/daycare compliance before enrolling your child. If they will not give you a copy of your teacher certification or at least let you see it, call Decal and report them. We are not just educating children, sometimes we are saving their lives.

She’s in the rising twos class meaning she’ll turn 2 this year. I can tell you more about what she can do than what she can’t.

Right now she’s learning how to put her shoes on and off which is an important life skill. She puts her own sheet on her nap mat with just a tiny bit of assistance (but boy does not want that assistance!!!).

We help our children become independent. Sometimes it’s hard for parents to let go, to allow a child to dress themselves, because perhaps they might put their pants on backwards. But imagine being a small child and putting in so much effort to do what takes a parent a matter of minutes? And then to be told that you did it wrong. So sometimes children walk out of our school with their pants on inside out, but they also lrave feeling proud and capable. It is in our nature to want to care for our young children but we need to let them succeed. Maria Montessori once said “never do for a child what they can do for themselves”.

One day these babies are going to rule the world, so we take a little steps toward their independence.

One thing is for sure, they know far more than we do, including how to be happy, thankful and live in the moment.

We are so thankful for their wisdom, and for the honor of their presence.

Blessing to all of you ❤️

And in a couple of seconds, she learned how to make circles. Now that she knows what a circle is she doesn’t have to relearn it 1 million times. Colors shapes and numbers are references. They are not an end goal in the knowledge process. Kids are capable of so much more!

Rising fours and some of the kids in pre-K are singing one of our favorite songs (Today Is Sunday by Dr. Jean)

This song is really complicated until you practice it a few times. They probably practiced three times and then knew everything backward and forward. That’s pretty incredible.

Today pre-K is teaching fours how to rhyme with more complicated words. It’s so much fun to watch children teach each other.

Watching our pre-K class play a game that they made up is so much fun. They have the most interesting conversations.

Such a unique little characters. ❤️

So very proud of our pre-K class today. The kids who have been with us since Rising 2s just found out that they were accepted into every single private school that they applied to. We have some big brains in our pre-K class, and we are going to miss them. Pace, Lovett, Galloway and Atlanta International school are going to have some amazing students entering their classrooms in August. We can’t wait to hear about their future successes.

Congrats to our amazing class of 2023. We are going to make the last few months together count. We’ve got individual books we are writing, the kids are putting out a play and planting a garden, and so much more. There is never a dull moment at Cambridge with these incredible kids. We feel fortunate to have such wonderful thinkers in our classrooms. We are over the moon 🌙
