To the companies completely dismantling their DEI offices, policies, and practices, if you are scared, just say that. Turning your back on your employees with marginalized identities and terminating policies that mitigates the present day impact of historical wrongs is cowardice. How many times do you encounter dehumanizing language throughout your day? Once you catch it, you can’t miss it!

For example:

A man cheats on his partner and instantly he is DEHUMANIZED to a dog!

Someone has a sporadic mood change and suddenly they labeled “Schizo” or “crazy”.

A person embraces non-conventional means of pleasure and they become “a freak”.

Dehumanization leads to and seeks to validate prejudice, discrimination, and violence.
