EXCITING NEW COURSE AND OPPORTUNITY!!
BIO 490: Special Topics- Authentic Research in Epigenetics: Effects of Chromatin Structure on Aging
This course provides a unique opportunity to conduct research in an emerging field under the instruction of a practicing biologist. Students will be introduced to current topics in chromatin and epigenetic inheritance using lectures and directed readings in the primary literature. However, the majority of coursework will consist of research at the bench – students will learn modern genetic, molecular, and cytological techniques while completing an independent research project on how lifespan in C. elegans is affected by global chromatin state.
Prerequisites: BIO 201 with a grade of “C-“ or higher, and junior or senior standing.
