Aerospace Awareness inspires kids to aim for the sky, but today, SGT Pitts of the U.S. Army showed them how to prepare for the journey. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to mentor our afterschool cadets. You proved that leadership isn’t just about giving orders, but about showing up. You planted seeds of discipline and curiosity that will grow for a lifetime. We are grateful for your service to our country and to our community.
IFR approaches utilize the ILS (instrument landing system). The ILS uses radio signals from the ground to create two "electronic beams". 1st Lieutenant Washington (12yrs) demonstrates "flying the needles" the localizer and glideslope, keeping them centered on the instrument display all the way down to the runway.🛬Aerospace Awareness Inc cadets learn to transform the act of flying in bad weather into a disciplined, precise, and safe procedure.

Aerospace Awareness cadets as early as 9 years old take to the skies (virtually for now!) to practice steep turns (30° or more)—a key skill for any future pilot! �💫 Steep turns aren’t just about banking the wings they’re a foundational exercise that helps cadets develop:
✔ **Coordination** – Balancing aileron, rudder, and elevator for smooth, controlled turns.
✔ **Situational Awareness** – Managing altitude, airspeed, and heading while in a bank.
✔ **Confidence in Flight Controls** – Understanding how an aircraft responds under different conditions. Every great pilot started with the basics, and we’re so proud of our young aviators for taking on the challenge! The sky’s not the limit—it’s just the beginning. 🌍✈️
When an airplane stalls during flight, the wings are not producing enough lift to keep the aircraft flying through the air, causing it to fall.
Stalls are one of the leading causes of fatal aviation accidents around the world. Most stalls are experienced shortly after take-off or when descending to land. Getting caught in a stall can be extremely stressful, even for the most experienced pilots. Aerospace Awareness cadets understand the basics of stall recovery, the types of stalls and situations where a stall is likely to occur. These are an important part of stall prevention and successful stall recovery. Have a great aerospace day! ✈️ 🚀

Today, our aerospace awareness cadets took a moment to remember the events of 9/11 by participating in a special class dedicated to honoring the brave passengers and flight crew aboard the aircraft that day. As part of their simulator training, they flew a 757 with the United Airlines logo, paying tribute to those of United Flight 93. We will never forget the sacrifices made on September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸✈️
