Historic Morris Brown College's 93 grads throw their caps, celebrate comeback, resilience after near-closure Morris Brown HBCU marked its 145th anniversary while also celebrating its largest graduating class since regaining accreditation in 2022.

Three members of the MBC family received the trailblazer award, each for devoting their talents and service to Morris Brown through thick and thin — for more than 30 years each:

Sandra Patman, Assistant, Institutional Advancement/Finance Office—39 years

Todd Blackburn, Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Director of Alumni Affairs—34 years

Jerome Rowland, Executive Director of Campus Operations and Facilities—31 years

Other recognitions included the Staff of the Year award to Erica Austin, coordinator, Center for Teaching, Learning and Innovation; the Dr. Farokhi Leadership Award to Dr. Marvin Brown, Department Chair, Psychology, and the Adjunct Faculty of the Year award to Dr. Norris Gurganious.

The Divine Nine organizations at Morris Brown College represented in true Greek fashion at Commencement 2026, saving the celebration for after the ceremony!
