I purposely used those words in my previous post to spark conversation. I had a parent message me and ask, “How is that trauma”

So if a child is struggling to read and it’s a known fact by the parent, but they are attempting to teach them to read by placing books in front of them and saying read….it’s traumatizing them. If they aren’t able to decode the words they become frustrated and stressed shifting reading to work.

Now if it’s a side by side, tracking words, and helping the child read the book FIRST then the child gets the book that’s different. But just leaving a new book in front of a struggling reader will bring them stress.
