Studies have shown that underserved learners are more likely to be learning remotely, even as districts provide the in-person option. This finding demonstrates the discrepancy among the underserved community and helps us to understand and realize this inequality. It’s imperative to take necessary actions to support this community.

“If there’s no opportunity, then there’s no diversity.”
As Coleman earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California, he noticed an overwhelming lack of representation in the STEM community. This encouraged him to create Project SYNCERE with two of his colleagues, George Wilson and Seun Phillips.
Project SYNCERE is a nonprofit organization with the overall goal of showcasing diversity and providing equal opportunities to those who are underrepresented in STEM education. They provide programs to families, school districts, and organizations in the form of project-based learning curriculum. Project SYNCERE equips gifted individuals with the resources and recognition they need to actively pursue their dreams in the STEM field.
Jason Coleman uses his experience in mechanical engineering and business management to create a safe, inclusive environment for his organization and the clients they serve. He is currently in the process of pursuing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Chicago to expand his experiences and contribute even further.
