Aldi plans to add 800 of its discount grocery stores across the US in a five-year expansion plan as it looks to capitalize on cost-conscious Americans feeling the pinch at grocery stores.

Tired of prices that remain about 19% above where they were before the pandemic, consumers are seeking new avenues to cut down on spending.

Rivian unveiled its smaller and less expensive "R2" SUVs and "R3" crossovers amid a slowdown in demand for EVs and also said it would start producing the R2 at its existing facility in Illinois to ensure deliveries in 2026.

Rivian shares closed up 13.4% at $12.51 on Thursday after the company said its new strategy would help save more than $2 billion.
