We also want to recognize this year’s new lifetime members of Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD), the International Honor Society in Sociology. Alpha Kappa Delta seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition. Its core mission is to “investigate humanity for the purpose of service.” AKD members are outstanding Emory Sociology students who have maintained a minimum 3.4 GPA overall. We are pleased to announce the inaugural Dr. Ambedkar Emancipatory Research Roundtable (AERR), a small academic gathering of graduate scholars from across universities, hosted by the Sociology Coalition of Graduate Students (COGS).
Roundtable participants will present and critically engage with works-in-progress, grounded in the intellectual legacy of B. R. Ambedkar. The goal of the session is to foster interdisciplinary dialogue on caste oppression, power, inequality, and social transformation through constructive feedback, collective inquiry, and the development of emancipatory scholarship connected to anti-caste political praxis.
