Ghana just added AI and coding to school, starting from kindergarten. Most of Africa is still talking about it. Ghana's curriculum body handed the Education Ministry a new basic school curriculum with coding, computational thinking and AI literacy from kindergarten all the way to junior high school....

As co-author of The AI Transformation: Thriving Within Civilization’s Next Big Disruption, my research explores an increasingly important question: Who owns, controls, authenticates, and understands the digital evidence AI depends upon?

My work in Digital Evidence draws on more than 25 years of experience in cybersecurity, data analytics, information technology risk management, and digital transformation, strengthened by my KPMG professional heritage, Department of Homeland Security training, and professional cybersecurity certification.

In an AI-driven world, digital evidence extends far beyond computers and mobile devices. Emails, financial transactions, cloud records, metadata, system logs, IoT devices, video, databases, and AI-generated content can become critical pieces of the investigative puzzle.

Through my Self-Determination AI framework, I emphasize Ownership of Learning, Data, Systems, and Outcomes. These principles are especially important when using AI to identify anomalies, reconstruct transactions, connect relationships, and support Grant and Contract Fraud investigations.

The future of investigation will not simply be about collecting more data. It will require establishing provenance, integrity, authenticity, context, and defensibility.

The grant fraud investigation is entering a new era.

As a co-author of The AI Transformation: Thriving Within Civilization’s Next Big Disruption and creator of the Self-Determination AI framework, I continue to explore how human judgment and advanced investigative technology can work together to protect public resources.

My philosophy begins with a simple investigative principle: Hunt the lie. Follow the money. Analyze the data. Protect the public trust.

Today’s investigator must understand more than financial transactions. Grant fraud awareness increasingly intersects with cybersecurity, data analytics, digital evidence, financial crime, organizational relationships, and Artificial Intelligence.

Through more than 25 years as a scholar-practitioner in technology, I have learned that AI can accelerate document review, identify anomalies, map relationships, organize evidence, and reveal patterns across enormous datasets.

But technology cannot own the investigation. People must.
That is where my four pillars of Self-Determination AI become critical: Ownership of Learning, Ownership of Data, Ownership of Systems, and Ownership of Outcomes.
