What happened to the BIG NEW genre of Southern Soul? Doesn't seem to be growing, definitely is not selling product, don't see any merchandise and it takes 8 people on a show for a promoter to break even.

I asked the question of who, are the Southern Soul leaders, and I get King George but if you show his photo without saying his name not many people know who he is. Tells me that there is NO identity marketing happening.

Can't seem to find a Southern Soul Artist that transcends markets. One will be big in the South but unknown in the West. Large audience in Chicago, but can't raise 50 people in Charlotte and none in New Orleans.

Wonder what would happen if the artists started claiming BLUES as their genre?
