Dear Sharif,
Happy birthday, man.
I wanted to send you a note from your younger self to say something I hope you never forget:
I’m proud of you.
We had a rough start to this thing called life, but you truly made the most of it. You’re loving, kind, caring, smart, handsome, funny…
Okay, that’s enough feeding the ego. 😂
But seriously, you are all of those things and more.
You have a beautiful family, amazing kids, and a phenomenal husband. You became a life coach—something I always knew you’d do—and you’ve helped hundreds of people. You even have over 50 five-star reviews.
Bro, you’re so dope.
But what I’m most proud of isn’t your family, career, body, or accomplishments.
It’s how you learned to treat yourself.
I remember when we didn’t always know our worth. When being tough felt safer than being vulnerable. When surviving came long before learning how to care for ourselves.
But somewhere along the way, you changed that.
You learned that self-respect isn’t just about what you refuse to accept from others. It’s also about what you choose to give yourself.
You started showing up for yourself.
You stayed consistent in the gym for over 20 years. You went to therapy, faced yourself, healed, and grew. You learned to speak to yourself with more kindness. You learned to give yourself grace. You learned that you didn’t always have to be hard just because life had been hard on you.
You respect yourself.
You’re kind to yourself.
You take care of yourself.
And that’s what makes me proudest.
Who in the hell writes a birthday letter to themselves on social media?
You. 😂😂😂
So I just want you to know that I see you, and I’m proud of you.
Proud of what you built.
Proud of who you became.
Proud that you created a life you truly love.
And if you ever need me to step out and return to my old ways, just call me.
I’m always right around the corner. 😂
But I think you’re good from here.
Happy birthday, man.
Keep being you.
