We celebrated the 2026 Decatur High School seniors today as they walked through their elementary alma mater in cap and gown. The seniors graduating this year were the third group of kindergarten students at Glennwood starting in 2013. Lots of happy tears today!

A special thank you to senior moms and GL staff members, Michelle Reynolds and Anya Robinson for organizing this special event! Thank you to Coach Meg as well for planning a parachute activity for the seniors.

Congratulations to our 2nd-grade students and families for SOARing so HIGH as proud Eagles at Glennwood! Today, we celebrated their accomplishments with our annual moving forth ceremony. It brings us such joy as a community to see these Eagles spread their wings and fly!

We also had a special surprise visit from Talley the Tiger to welcome the rising 3rd-grade class to Talley next year, and we know our 2nd graders will continue to SOAR.

Thank you to the 2nd-grade team and all the GL staff who have taught, mentored, cared for and encouraged each one of our students to shine! We appreciate you!

Glennwood Eagles celebrated on Friday our One Crew, One Book reading campaign finale by watching the movie adaptation of The One and Only Ivan, inspired by Katherine Applegate's Newbery winning novel. The celebration was complete with PJs and blankets. The best part was when the whole auditorium erupted in applause and cheers at the end of the movie when Ivan is finally freed from his cage of 27 years moving to his new home in Zoo Atlanta. 💚🦍🖤

Thank you to the 100+ families that participated and made this reading initiative such a success! We hope that true story of Ivan and its message will live in your hearts forever. The power of reading together creates treasured memories for a lifetime with your child.

"Dr. MJ Kim was in Decatur today to present seven CSD schools with 2025 Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) awards from the Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA), including the Highest Performing Award and the Greatest Gains Award for high academic performance and high scores in closing achievement gaps. CSD's seven out of nine eligible schools receiving SSAS awards is the highest ratio of any district in the state.

In the highest-performing schools category, Glennwood and Westchester earned the gold award; Winnona Park, F.Ave, and Talley St. earned silver; and Oakhurst and BHMS earned bronze. Talley St. also earned the silver award in the greatest gains category." (Taken from CSD page)

🐾 A 'Paws-itively' Amazing Day at Glennwood Elementary! 🐾

Today, our hallways were a little bit furrier and a whole lot brighter! We were thrilled to host author Patric Rayburn, who shared his inspiring book, The Purposeful Pup, with our students.

But the real show-stealer? Fabrizio, the Canine Companion!

Our students had a front-row seat to some incredible learning today. Students learned all about how Canine Companions are trained to provide life-changing independence for people with disabilities.

We got to see a live demonstration of the specialized commands Fabrizio has mastered with the help of his Puppy Raiser, Ms. Marian. (Let’s just say his listening skills are definitely an A+! 🌟) Fabrizio is 14 months old and will complete his training at the end of the summer and go to his forever home as someone's beloved service companion.

Patric shared the heart behind his writing as he trained his first service dog, teaching us all about service, empathy, and the power of a helping paw.

A huge thank you to Patric, Fabrizio and Ms. Marian for such a memorable and meaningful visit! We are so proud of how our students engaged and asked such thoughtful questions.

A HUGE thank you to all of our families who joined us for Ivan’s Afternoon Trivia Adventure sessions. We loved seeing everyone come together to celebrate reading and show off just how closely you’ve been following Ivan’s story.

We have to say… our families are SMART! 🤩 The trivia competition was fierce, the teamwork was strong, and let’s just say there may have been a few very competitive moments along the way! 🏆😉
