Did You Know? Rising grocery prices are one of the many reasons learning to garden is becoming increasingly important.

Growing your own fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices can help families reduce grocery expenses, improve access to fresh and nutritious foods, and develop valuable long-term food sustainability skills.

Home gardening also allows families to take a more active role in their health and wellness while enjoying fresh produce right from their own backyard or patio.

Earlier today, DFOWW Incorporated (Daphany's Fabulous Objective Weekly Workshops), a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, proudly hosted supplemental food distributions through our community partners at Remedy In Atlanta and Growth Mindset Wellness P.C. in Stockbridge, Georgia.

During this interactive workshop, families will learn: 🌱 Basic gardening techniques 🌱 How to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices 🌱 Container gardening for small spaces 🌱 Food sustainability concepts 🌱 Healthy eating and nutrition literacy

✅ All gardening materials and take-home supplies will be provided.

Earlier today, DFOWW Incorporated, a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, proudly hosted supplemental food distributions through our valued community partners at Remedy in Atlanta and Growth Mindset Wellness PC in Stockbridge, Georgia.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our community partners, volunteers, and supporters who continue helping us serve families throughout Metro Atlanta.

At DFOWW Incorporated, supplemental food distributions are only one component of our broader Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP).
Unlike a traditional food pantry or food bank model, the Write-Right Nutrition Program is a structured nutrition literacy and wellness education initiative designed to combine:

• Nutrition literacy education
• Gardening and food sustainability education
• Healthy eating guidance
• Grocery budgeting strategies
• Nutrition label comprehension
• Long-term wellness and self-sufficiency education
• Supplemental food support opportunities
• Personal care items and essential supplies when available

Our mission extends beyond simply providing temporary food access. We believe:
Education + Nutrition = Empowerment
While emergency food assistance can help address immediate needs, education can help families develop practical skills that support healthier lifestyles, improved food sustainability, better food choices, and stronger long-term household wellness outcomes.

As part of this program model, supplemental food distributions are generally offered as a benefit of active participation in the Write-Right Nutrition Program. Individuals and families who enroll in and actively participate in our nutrition literacy workshops receive notifications regarding eligible program activities, resources, and supplemental food distribution opportunities connected to the program.

This approach allows us to connect short-term assistance with long-term education and practical life skills that may help families build greater self-sufficiency over time.

Current Participant Investment Structure
✅ Reduced Low-Income Participation Rates
• $25 — Single-parent or single-head-of-household families with children receiving SNAP or TANF benefits

• $40 — Two-parent households with children receiving SNAP or TANF benefits

✅ Standard Community Participation Rate
• $75 household investment fee for non-low-income households (includes up to two household adults and household children)

These participant investment fees help offset a portion of the costs associated with curriculum delivery, educational materials, gardening supplies, participant resources, insurance, transportation, facility expenses, staffing support, and catered meals.

Partnership Opportunities
Organizations interested in enrolling clients or program participants into DFOWW Incorporated workshops should anticipate either:

• Covering participant investment fees on behalf of their clients or program participants, or
• Coordinating collection and payment of applicable participant investment fees prior to services being delivered.

While donated meeting space, volunteers, and in-kind support are sincerely appreciated, operational and educational program expenses remain applicable and must be covered in order for services to be provided.

Organizations interested in establishing a formal partnership with DFOWW Incorporated may request a Partnership Packet and Partnership Agreement by emailing:

🍅 Did You Know? Botanically speaking, tomatoes are actually classified as a fruit because they develop from the fertilized o***y of a flower and contain seeds. However, from a culinary — and even legal — perspective, tomatoes are commonly treated as vegetables because of their savory flavor profile and how they are typically used in cooking.

Understanding nutrition, healthy foods, gardening, and food sustainability is one of the many educational topics incorporated into DFOWW Incorporated’s Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP). 🌱

Earlier today, DFOWW Incorporated proudly hosted a supplemental food distribution at Petco in the Edgewood Retail District.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Ms. Meredith and every volunteer who dedicated their time, compassion, and effort to helping support families within our community. ❤️

At DFOWW Incorporated, supplemental food distributions are only one component of our broader Write-Right Nutrition Program. Our primary focus is nutrition literacy education, wellness education, gardening education, and helping families develop practical long-term food sustainability skills.

Free food can be obtained from many traditional food banks and food pantries throughout the community. However, our organization’s mission goes beyond temporary food access. We believe individuals and families also deserve access to nutrition education, healthier lifestyle guidance, gardening knowledge, grocery budgeting strategies, and practical tools that may help support long-term wellness and self-sufficiency.

Unlike a traditional food pantry model, WRNP combines:

🥕 Nutrition literacy education
🌿 Gardening and food sustainability education
🛒 Grocery budgeting strategies
🏷️ Nutrition label comprehension
🍎 Healthy eating guidance
📦 Supplemental food assistance
❤️ Wellness and self-sufficiency support

Our mission is simple:

Education + Nutrition = Empowerment.

As part of this educational program structure, supplemental food distributions are generally reserved for actively participating workshop attendees and registered program participants.

🌱 Registration is currently open for our upcoming:

Earlier today, DFOWW Incorporated, a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, coordinated a community food distribution at Petco in the Edgewood Retail District.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Ms. Meredith and every volunteer who dedicated their time and effort to helping support families within our community. ❤️

📸 Please take a moment to look through some of the photos from today’s distribution and see the impact firsthand.

In Georgia, more than 1.6 million people experience food insecurity, including hundreds of thousands of children. Organizations such as Feeding America, Feeding Georgia, and the Atlanta Community Food Bank serve as critical safety nets by helping provide millions of meals and resources to communities in need each year. Their work is essential and deeply appreciated.

At DFOWW Incorporated, we complement those efforts through our Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP), which combines supplemental food assistance, personal care items, and essential supplies with structured nutrition literacy education workshops.

DFOWW Incorporated’s Write-Right Nutrition Program complements traditional food assistance efforts by pairing supplemental food support with nutrition literacy education designed to promote long-term wellness and self-sufficiency.

Our mission goes beyond simply providing food access. We believe education + nutrition = empowerment.

While emergency food assistance helps address immediate needs, our workshops are designed to help individuals and families build long-term wellness, food sustainability knowledge, healthier eating habits, budgeting skills, nutrition label comprehension, gardening education, and practical strategies for stretching limited grocery resources further.

Our program focuses on helping participants not only access food today, but also gain knowledge and tools that may help support healthier and more sustainable choices for the future.

This educational approach is one of the things that makes DFOWW Incorporated’s Write-Right Nutrition Program unique. We are not simply operating as a traditional food pantry model — we are a nutrition literacy and wellness education program that incorporates supplemental food support as part of a broader mission to empower communities through education.

Food insecurity continues to impact families, seniors, and individuals throughout our communities. Providing free supplemental food assistance and essential supplies can help reduce financial strain, allowing households to redirect limited income toward other critical needs such as rent, utilities, healthcare, and medication.

Fresh produce also plays an important role in long-term wellness. Tomatoes and cherry tomatoes are nutrient-rich foods packed with vitamins A, C, and K, potassium, and lycopene — nutrients that support heart health, healthy skin, vision, and overall wellness.

Today, DFOWW Incorporated hosted a free food distribution at Growth Mindset Wellness in Stockbridge, Georgia as part of our Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP). Through this initiative, we are working to bridge the gap for low-income families, seniors, and individuals experiencing food insecurity while also promoting nutrition literacy and healthier lifestyle choices.

The WRNP goes beyond supplemental food assistance. Our program includes six in-person nutrition literacy workshops designed to provide practical education on:

• Healthy eating habits
• Meal planning and budgeting
• Food sustainability
• Long-term wellness strategies
• Kids & Parents Gardening education
• Nutrition label reading and comprehension
• Eating healthy while living in a food desert

Each workshop also includes a catered meal to help create a supportive and welcoming learning environment for participating families.

At DFOWW Incorporated, we believe education + nutrition = empowerment. Our goal is not only to provide immediate support, but also to equip families with the knowledge and tools needed to build healthier, more sustainable futures.

Please take a moment to view some of the photos from today’s distribution below. If you attended and feel comfortable, feel free to tag yourself.

A Message from the Executive Director

As Executive Director of DFOWW Incorporated, I see firsthand the growing challenges many families are facing throughout our communities.

Rising food prices, housing costs, healthcare expenses, and transportation costs continue to place tremendous pressure on working families, seniors, and individuals living on fixed incomes.

For many households, the issue is no longer simply budgeting carefully — it is trying to determine which basic necessities they can afford each month.

That is why programs like our Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP) are so important.
Today, we were honored to host free food distributions at Remedy in Atlanta, Georgia and Growth Mindset Wellness in Stockbridge, Georgia. These distributions are part of our ongoing commitment to helping bridge the gap for families with children, seniors, and individuals experiencing food insecurity.
Please take a moment to view some of the photos from today’s distribution below.

At DFOWW Incorporated, we are not just providing supplemental food assistance — we are investing in education, wellness, and long-term sustainability.

Our Write-Right Nutrition Program includes six in-person nutrition literacy workshops focused on:

• Growing your own fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices through gardening
• Understanding how to properly read and interpret nutrition food labels
• Healthy eating habits and balanced meal planning
• Budget-friendly grocery shopping strategies
• Food sustainability and self-sufficiency
• Building long-term healthy lifestyle habits for families and children

Each workshop also includes a catered meal to ensure participants receive both nourishment and education in a supportive and welcoming environment.

I would also like to personally thank our partners at The Home Depot for graciously donating supplies to support our programming efforts.

Thank you Mrs. Masha and staff for your kindness and continued support of our mission.

A special thank you as well to our incredible partners at Costco Wholesale. Your continued weekly donations allow us to serve vulnerable families, seniors, and children throughout the community. Your support truly makes a difference.

Together, we can continue building healthier and stronger communities through nutrition, education, compassion, and empowerment.

Warm regards,
Ms. Daphany Williams-DuBois
