PANS/PANDAS can affect otherwise healthy children and is often misunderstood or overlooked. Early recognition, compassionate support, and the right care team can make a meaningful difference for children and families navigating these challenges. When your child acts out, they’re often asking for help the only way they know how. Before children can say "I'm overwhelmed," big feelings come out as tantrums, clinginess, or outbursts. This isn't bad behavior, it's communication. One of the most powerful things you can do is help your child put words to their feelings. Naming an emotion helps their brain process it, teaching them that feelings have a name and they don't last forever.
You don't need all the answers. Just being present and offering simple words like, "That felt frustrating" or "I'm right here with you" can make a difference. Small moments build emotional regulation, resilience, and a sense of safety that your child will carry with them. Read our blog to learn more about how to support your child through big emotions without feeling overwhelmed yourself.

At Simplify Life, we pause this Memorial Day to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in military service to our country. We reflect with gratitude on their sacrifice, the grief of their families, and hold their memory with the respect it deserves.

We believe your care should be approached with the same seriousness as any physical health concern. That means proper assessment, accurate diagnosis, and treatment guided by evidence, not vague sessions that leave you wondering whether therapy is working.
Our approach is different by design. We use specialized, measurement-based care to help clients dealing with anxiety, depression, OCD, and related concerns track progress, adjust treatment when needed, and move forward with more clarity and confidence. The goal is not endless therapy. The goal is effective therapy that helps you feel better and function better.
If you are looking for a more focused, informed path forward, learn more about what makes us different by reaching out and taking the next step today.

Some counselors help you manage symptoms. Others help you understand what’s happening beneath them and move forward with real tools.
Dr. Emily Ferrara brings both professional training and lived understanding to her work as our founder and a licensed professional counselor. Her approach is shaped by her own experience with anxiety and OCD, which gives her work added depth, compassion, and clarity.
Emily works with female tweens, teens, and women who are navigating anxiety, OCD, social anxiety, phobias, and work-life balance. Using CBT and family systems, she helps clients better understand their patterns, build practical coping skills, and create lasting change that feels doable in daily life.

Some people seem to be the one others naturally open up to.
That was part of what first drew Niah Kalpak toward the work she does today. What began as an early interest in music therapy eventually became a path into psychology, counseling, and a deeper passion for walking with people through life’s harder, more tender seasons.
In this blog spotlight, Niah shares what inspired her to become a counselor, why she sees it as an honor to hold people’s stories, and how her approach stays rooted in love, curiosity, and care. She also speaks to common misconceptions about therapy and offers encouragement for anyone wondering if it might be time to begin.
Her perspective is simple: therapy should be a space where you can be known, challenged, supported, and accepted as you are while you grow into who you are becoming.
If you have been thinking about therapy, or want to learn more about our team and approach, we invite you to connect with us or visit our website.

Cinco de Mayo is a testament to the fact that from resistance comes resilience. We want to take a moment honor the incredible strength and history of the Mexican community. In our work with minorities, it's impossible not to appreciate the profound resilience passed down through generations. We recognize and celebrate cultural strength today and every day!
