Emory chemist Kyle Biegasiewicz has received a national peer award that provides two years of unrestricted funding in support of his work using natural enzymes to streamline the synthesis of molecules for drug development.

A team led by Emory Biophysicist Shashank Shekhar has solved how muscles form at the molecular level and how they maintain their function.

The work provides a molecular mechanism for dilated cardiomyopathy, which may help in designing a treatment for one of the leading causes of heart failure.

Last year, ballet icon Misty Copeland watched Emory Dance alum Ilo perform their senior honors thesis on campus.

Now Copeland has personally invited the 2025 graduate to choreograph a new work for this year's Joyce Ballet Festival - one of the nation's premier dance events.

Ilo will perform their piece “Melt: From the Inside Out” with a cast of five other dancers, drawing on Afro-Caribbean traditions and building on research and artistic exploration that began at Emory.
