While our job can be fun as we promote learning through play and bring activities that promote development, not only physically, but also emotionally to support both child AND parent attachment and security.

There’s good reason - our curriculum knew what they were doing when they prioritized the parent child interaction. Because while we take toys, activities, information about development and provide resources, our job does not stop there.

Our team collectively has completed 624 HOURS of professional development and continuing education courses since July 2025. These trainings provide us with the tools to identify the early signs of potential child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, post partum depression and drug endangerment.

While we do play, facilitate, and support. We also, EMPOWER, SCREEN and ADVOCATE. Because home visiting is the first line of defense in identifying and preventing.

Studies show home visiting services in the first 3 years of life identify postpartum depression 60% sooner than medical professionals. Prevent child abuse and neglect by up to 50% in high risk populations. AND identify potential harm from domestic violence by 20%.

Our job is fun, but it’s also essential 🩵

Join us today in wearing blue in effort to support the end of child abuse and neglect.

Today, the ROE 28 team proudly wore blue in support of Child Abuse Prevention.

These dedicated professionals show up every day with compassion, commitment, and a strong focus on serving our schools and communities, and the children in them. It is the mindset at the heart of everything these professionals do, and the impact is felt in Bureau, Henry, and Stark communities.

While not every staff member is pictured, many were out in communities and within our schools today, continuing their important work and serving where they are needed most, with children.

Today, we proudly stand together, wearing blue, in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Awareness across Illinois.

As Regional Superintendents and Assistants from across northern and western Illinois, known as Area 2, we each serve different counties, schools, and communities—but we are united by a shared purpose: supporting and protecting the well-being of every child.

While our local goals and priorities may vary, our commitment is shared. Every decision we make, every partnership we build, and every leadership step we take is rooted in creating safe, supportive environments where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

Today’s meeting in Area 2 gave us the opportunity to collaborate, strengthen our leadership, and learn from one another—so we can better serve the students and school communities.

Together, we wear blue. Together, we lead. Together, we advocate for the children of our schools.
