🚔🐾 Today we had some very special visitors at the center—Officer Kyle and his K9 partner, Bart!

The children had an amazing time learning what it’s like to be a police officer and how K9 Bart helps keep our community safe. They asked so many thoughtful questions about police equipment, how Bart became a police K9, what his job is, and whether they’ve ever caught any bad guys!

We also shared some fun facts about our own dogs and learned just how smart and hardworking police K9s are. Thank you, Officer Kyle and Bart, for taking the time to visit us, answer all of our questions, and give our children such a memorable hands-on learning experience. We appreciate all you do for our community! 💙🚓🐕

Happy Halloween!! Last Sunday was another successful trunk or treat with the Atkins Public Library. We brought The Big Red Barn (2nd place), K Pop and a Construction trunk. Had so much fun seeing the kids in their costumes!!

This October 2nd marks a truly special milestone—25 years of nurturing, learning, laughing, and growing together. As we celebrate 25 years of Bree Hepker’s leadership in early childhood education, we’re reflecting on the incredible impact she’s had—not just on children and families, but on all of us who’ve worked alongside her.
Bree opened her first childcare center, Early Beginnings Inc., in Van Horne in October 2000. In 2012, she expanded into the Atkins community with Early Beginnings Atkins, Inc. Most recently, in 2025, she opened Bright Futures Child Care in Vinton. We would like to proudly honor Bree Hepker’s 25-year journey in early childhood education. Since opening her first center in 2000, Bree has transformed childcare into a space of growth, safety, and joy for many children, staff and families.

As we celebrate this journey, we’re inviting you to be part of a meaningful acknowledgement to Bree Hepker, whose leadership and light has shaped it all—and we want to reflect that love back to her. Whether you were with us for a season or many years, your presence has helped shape the heart of our centers.

Would you please take the time to share a favorite memory, message, or moment from your time with us? Whether you’re a parent, a staff member (past or present), or a now-grown child who once played in our care, your words will help us create a beautiful keepsake that honors Bree’s 25 years of dedication to children, families, and the community.

Thank you to the Atkins Iowa Public Library for hosting such a fun trunk or treat. We were pleased to see so many families in attendance, demonstrating their support for this community event. We are thankful to ALL of our staff for the creativity and hard work they put into creating their classroom trunk.
