Learning From Life: Homeschool Family Adventures

Learning From Life: Homeschool Family Adventures a family on a mission to learn by living and doing. We are a family on a mission! We strive to live as simply and cleanly as possible.

We are about to embark on our own homeschooling mission and would love to make it a road school experience. Eventually we aspire to living on our own homestead in a small house with a BIG barn and rescue livestock. Follow our adventure as we explore life!

Our books for our first day week of 1st grade (image 1) and ungrade (Image 2: I asked Abigail what grade she wanted to be in and she said she likes not being labeled both a grade). Also a wonderful looking book for myself! (Image 3). Were so excited to start Emma’s first homeschool year and Abigails last year before she starts dual enrollment college classes 2021

So I did some math over the weekend and figured out how many steps each of the kids would need to complete each day to be done by June 29 and have the entire month of July off before we begin again in August. I told the kids last night and wrote it down for them and warned them it was more than they were used to doing each day. Caleb, mr 13. Decided to lie to daddy when asked if he had finished his work for the day and then proceeded to argue with mom when she came home from work and told him he had not, in fact, done his required work for the day. Argued to the point where he lost the PlayStation AND his cell phone. He eventually calmed down and proceeded to finish his work for the day. When he finished I checked to make sure he had done enough steps (acellus) and Checked how long it had taken him in total to do that amount of work. I looked at my son and said, “Do you want to know how much time you argued and whined and complained and lost your electronics for? 1.8 hours of work..”. That was all it took him to do his required work for the day.... 1.8 hours..... “Was it worth it?” “No”... Lesson learned kiddo.....
