The kids write letters. The ponies deliver them. That is the whole literacy program, and it works every single time.

North Star Child Development Center, an inclusive preschool in Coeur d’Alene, asked us out at the end of August. The school pays nothing for this, and that is on purpose.

It takes $175 for hay, fuel, and the trailer. One local Coeur d’Alene business, one morning, and their name goes home in the hands of every kid there.

Mini horses are good at this. Kids who are nervous around adults will talk to a pony. Taking turns, gentle hands, reading out loud to something that listens.

We’re bringing our ponies to North Star Child Development Center in Coeur d’Alene, free to the school. The $175 covers our cost to get there.

Thank you to Dual Rein Photography for putting $75 toward our visit to CDA Early Learning Center. Every bit of that matters when you’re trying to keep these visits free for the school.

The kids got to meet the horses up close and ask a hundred questions. That’s the whole point.

Each visit runs about $175. I have more schools asking and I’m looking for businesses to help cover them, whether that’s the full amount or part of it. DM me.

Angela “Legs” Tanner is a Brandi Lyons Level 2 Certified Trainer coming over from the Spokane side. Her horses bow, count, sit on pedestals, and jump through hoops, and she’s good at breaking it down step by step for regular riders.

Day one is intro to liberty tricks: coming to you at the mount, counting, starting the bow. Day two is advanced tricks and obstacle work.

You bring your own horse, and all ages and all levels are welcome. This is also a great fit for mini owners. Liberty and trick work gives minis a real job, and a mini with a job is a mini that stays out of trouble.

Each day runs 9 to 4. It’s $300 for both days or $200 for one, and there are a few optional $50 private sessions if you want one on one help with something specific. Want to watch and learn without bringing a horse? Auditors are welcome for $50 a day.

6 spots per day and a couple are gone already. A deposit holds yours: $100 for one day, $150 for both.

My brother Billy had Down syndrome. He is why Tribal Cowboy exists.

I am building a working ranch where people with Down syndrome hold real jobs and families trust the people around their person. Every dollar Tribal Cowboy earns goes toward that. While I am still building, DS Connections NW is doing this work right now in our community. They are a registered nonprofit running new diagnosis support and summer camps for families across the Inland Northwest.

State funding keeps shrinking. Today is the final day of Idaho Gives. They are 79% to their goal, and reaching it unlocks leaderboard prizes that keep their programs running.
