Meet two Oaks who turned their Menlo education into hands-on experience at Northwestern Mutual: Jessica Oseguera Santoyo '27 and Andrue Perkins '28.
As an Entrepreneurship major, Jessica assumed her internship options would start and end with startups. Northwestern Mutual proved otherwise. She built her own client base, managed her own schedule, and helped build flexible financial plans for clients with different personal and professional goals, all while sharpening the critical thinking skills that come with being a bridge between where people are and where they want to be.
Andrue credited Menlo's small class sizes and supportive professors with giving him the confidence to step into a professional environment from day one. At Northwestern Mutual, he ran client meetings, led financial fact-finding conversations, and learned the fundamentals of risk management and insurance, building real professional relationships along the way.
As Jessica put it, "Investing in yourself, by using campus resources and seeking guidance, is the biggest motivator to grow both personally and professionally at Menlo."
We're proud to see our Oaks put Menlo's business foundation to work in Silicon Valley's backyard!
