UGA HEROs raised more than $2,500 yesterday at its annual Torch 5K for children who have HIV/AIDS. The funds will assist the organization with programs that give the kids a safe space to express themselves and a smooth transition into adulthood.

Hope everyone had an amazing first week back to class! 🐶 Whether in Indianapolis or Athens, these HEROs had so much fun celebrating the National Championship win. Congrautlaions to .99 and all the other Bulldogs on their amazing win! 🏈🥂

We began this year with one goal in mind: be the change.

What seemed like a simple goal at first and a great bounce back story from COVID soon became more complicated as uncertainty surrounding the pandemic remained and we still couldn’t have in person interactions with our kids. There were times when we didn’t know what being the change would look like or if it was even possible, but we put our all into everything this year and made it happen.

Through it all, we fundraised $240,000 and enjoyed some spectacular moments. From breaking records at recruitment and fundraising days, to adding an outreach & inclusion committee, and increasing our social media presence, we remained WOW through it all. HEROs is home for so many UGA students and the return to in-person activities this year reminded us of that.

Thank you to everyone who followed us along our journey this year; it was a blast and your support means the world. If this year taught us one thing, it’s to never doubt your impact. Just because you can’t see the results of your work, doesn’t mean that it isn’t important and isn’t changing lives❤️.

This past Sunday was our 2021 Olympics!

This year’s Olympics were Disney Channel games style, and each color team was made up of several HEROs teams and committees. Unfortunately, our kids could not come because of COVID-19. But we still found ways to celebrate them by having each color team represent them in our games! Our kids also received care packages in the mail corresponding to their team.

And we’re so happy we had such a great day with all of our members.✨

Last Sunday, October 17th was our first ever Torch Relay 5K!

The event was a success, becoming our highest raising torch event ever.

Congratulations to our very own Bhumi Patel on making homecoming court!

Bhumi is our Marketing Chair, but is also involved in RISE, ServeUGA, Impact and Delta Phi Omega. She was nominated for homecoming court by RISE UGA where she serves as their Marketing Director.

We are so proud of Bhumi and support her for UGA Homecoming Queen!

This year, our annual Torch Relay event will be a 5K race! It will be held at Sandy Creek park on October 17, 9 a.m.-noon.
