Another successful Healthy OHIO Biometric Screening is complete in Athens!

A second group of seniors enrolled in Community Health Nursing (NRSE 4540) had the opportunity to participate in the screening program. Just like the group we previously highlighted, these students did an excellent job providing professional, high-quality health screenings for Ohio University employees and their spouses.

The next Athens screening will be held on September 14. Registration opens September 7 at 8 a.m., so be sure to reserve your appointment!

🐾 Paws for Applause: Chad Kopenski 🐾

Going forward, our Paws for Applause recipients will be announced monthly, but before we transition from our individual recipient spotlights, we wanted to end them on a high note!

We are excited to recognize Chad Kopenski with a Paws for Applause Award for his tremendous support of our graduate programs and the School of Nursing.

So much of Chad’s work happens behind the scenes. He consistently helps faculty, staff, and students navigate complex processes and challenges, often while juggling multiple priorities and responding to urgent needs. Through it all, Chad remains knowledgeable, dependable, patient, and focused on finding solutions.

Chad also has a special way with words and an ability to handle even difficult student questions and concerns with professionalism and care. His steady support, encouragement, and dedication have benefited the School of Nursing for many years.

Chad is truly an invaluable member of our SON team, and we are so thankful for everything he does. He definitely deserves our applause! 👏🐾

🩺💚 Our Athens BSN seniors are putting their skills into action!

Today, the first clinical group of seniors in Community Health Nursing (NRSE 4540) kicked off this fall’s Healthy OHIO Biometric Screenings and successfully completed more than 80 screenings for Ohio University employees and their spouses in just one day!

We were so excited to see our students provide such a high level of screening to so many participants within a short timeframe. They used their nursing knowledge, clinical skills, teamwork, communication, and organization to keep participants moving smoothly through each step of the screening process.

We were also excited to utilize the Interprofessional Education (IPE) Simulation Lab space for the screenings, giving students an excellent environment to provide hands-on community health services while gaining valuable real-world experience.

This is community health nursing in action, and we are proud of our students for helping support the health and wellness of the OHIO community! 🐾

Congratulations to Adelia Young, Graduate Assistant for the School of Nursing, on receiving a Paws for Applause recognition!

Adelia consistently demonstrates professionalism, enthusiasm, and a willingness to help wherever she is needed. During a period of departmental restructuring and an especially busy time for our graduate programs, Adelia stepped up without hesitation to take on responsibilities beyond her normal role. She quickly learned new processes and provided critical support with Project Concert, clinical packets, and many other evolving needs of the team.

Through it all, Adelia has remained organized, dependable, flexible, and positive. She approaches new challenges with a true team spirit and is always willing to lend a hand to help her colleagues and our students succeed.

Adelia embodies so many of the qualities Paws for Applause was created to recognize, including teamwork, going above and beyond, positive influence, commitment to excellence, and, of course, perseverance.
