Foothills Social Circle students had a great week filled with carnival-style fun, food, and progress as part of their spring attendance initiative! 🎪🍿

Students enjoyed popcorn, pretzel bites, loaded fries, chicken tenders, and more while earning prizes for meeting their weekly goals. Even more importantly, they showed up, stayed engaged, and kept moving forward.

We also loved welcoming parents to campus for mentor conferences. We believe in working together to support each student’s path to graduation.

🎓 Congratulations to Foothills graduate Edwin Hernandez!

The Oglethorpe Foothills staff is very proud of Edwin and the hard work he put in to reach his goal of graduating. After coming to Foothills following COVID, Edwin stayed focused and determined to earn his diploma.

He worked on his courses daily from home while also attending in-person classes several nights each week, and his dedication paid off when he was handed that diploma!

Edwin already has his sights set on what comes next. He plans to attend Warm Springs next year to pursue vocational training in hospitality and food service. He is excited about gaining new skills and continuing to build his independence.

We are proud of Edwin and look forward to seeing where his future takes him.

We were honored to welcome leaders from the Georgia Department of Education and Southern Crescent Technical College to our Foothills Butts Site this week.

A special thank you to GaDOE Chief of Staff Christy Todd, GaDOE Completion School Support Specialist Chris Huckans, and SCTC Interim Vice President of Student Affairs Drew Todd for taking time to meet with our team and students.

During their visit, we were able to:
• Showcase the impact of Georgia’s special completion schools
• Engage in meaningful dialogue about how to strengthen and support this work across the state
• Highlight our students in action with a site tour

We also appreciated the opportunity to share how our partnerships with several technical colleges are expanding Accelerated Career Diploma opportunities for our students and providing additional pathways to graduate high school while earning valuable technical college credentials.

Collaboration like this helps ensure every student has access to education that prepares them for life with options, momentum, and clear steps forward.

At Foothills, relationships are at the heart of student success, and Mentor Amanda Hensler at Foothills Greene embodies that every day.

Since December 2019, Amanda has served as a dedicated mentor, working one-on-one with students to provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support as they move toward graduation. Through weekly meetings and consistent connection, she helps students build confidence, develop resilience, and stay focused on their goals.

Amanda believes every student deserves someone in their corner. Whether celebrating milestones or helping navigate challenges, she is committed to ensuring students feel seen, supported, and capable of achieving more than they imagined.

We are grateful for the positive impact mentors make at Foothills! They are vital in helping students build momentum, cross the finish line, and walk across the stage as graduates. 💙
