On Thursday, the Siblings returned to the Hall for the first meeting of the semester to debate the resolution BIHR: Private Equity Ownership In Healthcare Should Be Banned In The U.S. With a vote of 22 ayes to 0 nays to 0 abstentions, the resolution passed amongst siblings. The resolution also passed amongst guests with a vote of 3 ayes to 1 nay to 0 abstentions.

Starting off this semester’s Sibling Spotlights with our wonderful President, Sister Anna Shaikun! 💙

Since joining Phi Kappa in Fall 2024, Sister Shaikun has been a member of three competitive debate teams, including the winning 2025 ISD team. She has also previously served as Clavinger and IAC Chair.

Sister Shaikun is known for her positive attitude, commanding presence on the floor, and friendly face to both siblings and guests. We can’t wait to see what her presidency will hold!

When asked what Phi Kappa means to her, Sister Shaikun said, “Phi Kappa is a unique space in the way it brings out the best in people. It's a challenging, yet very loving environment. I've seen PK transform quiet freshmen into skilled and confident speakers, and turn strangers into best friends within weeks. I think it's because you have the strength of generations of Phi Kappans behind you; all these siblings who shaped the Society and left it better than they found it. We are standing on the shoulders of giants, and I am so proud to be a part of this tradition and this family."
