Bo Brodrick and Skylar Magnarella are concluding their high school careers with a few championship tournaments. Last weekend, the team competed in the 2-day Georgia BASS Nation High School Fishing State Championship on Clarks Hill. Despite motor problems that left them with only a trolling motor on day 2, Bo and Skylar ended the event with 24.23 lbs to place 32nd out of 104 teams. An incredible finish for these incredible student-anglers! The team was also recognized as Bassmaster National Championship Qualifiers, an event that will have them back on Clarks Hill at the end of July. On Saturday, Bo Brodrick and Skylar Magnarella competed in the GHSA Bass Fishing State Championship on Lake Lanier. A fog delay led to a fast moving competition with the team running the lake from top to bottom. With only 20 minutes remaining until weigh-in, Bo and Skylar found a hot spot that allowed them to cull and improve their bag for the scales. The team finished 43rd out of 104 boats with 13 lbs, 2 ounces. A huge thanks to Costa Sunglasses and, as always, Kevin Brodrick for captaining and coaching. Go Glads!!!

Yesterday, Costa Sunglasses representative and CCHS parent John Preston visited the school to provide our state and national championship bound Gladiator anglers and captain with new pairs of the highest quality sunglasses on the market. Mr. Preston also tutored the team on how Costas are manufactured to greatly improve an angler's performance by heightening vision and reducing eye strain. He explained the variety of options Costa offers and guided the team in identifying the perfect frames and lenses for their unique needs. We are extremely grateful to Mr. Preston and Costa Sunglasses for supporting these student anglers and high school fishing in Athens, Georgia. Go Glads!!!

Only one week after qualifying for the Bassmaster High School National Championshp, Gladiator anglers Bo Brodrick and Skylar Magnarella have now qualified for the GHSA Bass Fishing State Championship. Captain Kevin Brodrick reports the team battled sustained winds of 15 mph with gusts at 25 mph to bring in their 12lb, 11 oz bag. These boys can't be stopped!!!! Go Glads!!!

🏆The Gladiator Bass Fishing Team is heading to NATIONALS! 🏆 Last weekend, Gladiator seniors Bo Brodrick and Skylar Magnarella weighed in a 5 fish limit of 11 lbs, 13 oz at the Bassmaster High School National Qualifier on Lake Smith in Cullman, Alabama. Finishing in 21st place out of the 236 competing teams qualified them for the 2025 Bassmaster High School National Championship being held on Clarks Hill on July 25 & 26.

Boat captain Kevin Brodrick reported the team caught their limit early and were able to cull throughout the day. Some big fish in the last two hours got them to their final qualifying weight.

This is awesome news for these dedicated anglers who have both been competing in tournaments since their 8th grade years! Go Glads!!!

Don't let today's warm weather fool you! It was cold last weekend as Gladiator Bass Fishing's Bo Brodrick and Skylar Magnarella competed in back-to-back tournaments. On Saturday at the Georgia Bass Nation tournament on Lake Lanier, the team battled through a 27 degree morning to finish 32nd in a field of 143 teams. They weighed in a 5 fish limit at 10.72 lbs. On Sunday, the temperature rose to a "warm" 33 degrees on Lake Lanier for Georgia High School Fishing's third tournament of the year. Bo and Skylar weighed in a 5 fish limit at 16.31 lbs to place 10th out of 70 teams. Incredible fishing against incredible conditions! As always, a HUGE SHOUT-OUT to Kevin Brodrick for his dedication to captaining, coaching, and mentoring these student-anglers. Go Glads!!!

On Saturday, Gladiator seniors Bo Brodrick and Skylar Magnarella competed in the GHSA State Qualifying Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Oconee. These Gladiators, captained by Kevin Brodrick, placed 35th out of 245 teams after weighing in a limit of 5 fish at 10 lbs, 2 ounces. This spring will keep these guys busy with tournaments so stay tuned for more results. Go Glads!!!

The CCHS Bass Fishing Team will meet at Lake Herrick tomorrow, February 5th, between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Lake Herrick is located inside the UGA Intramural Fields (110 Lake Herrick Dr).

Non-motorized boats are allowed. All students fishing from a boat must wear a life jacket and be supervised by an adult. Fishing rods & reels and tackle will be available for use, but students are encouraged to bring your own.

The Gladiator Bass Fishing Team will host a workshop on Monday, November 11th from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm in room 242. The event will focus on how and when to fish with soft plastic lures. Students will practice tying knots and rigging lures. All materials will be provided. Transportation is not provided. Contact Mr. Barner with any questions at [email protected].

Bo Brodrick and Skylar Magnarella placed 11th out of 37 teams from 7 states at last Saturday's Major League Fishing High School Open on Lake Chickamauga. After a delayed start due to fog, the team ended with 6.3 lb bag of 3 fish. They'll be back at it this weekend as they compete in Georgia High School Fishing's first tournament of the year. Support Coach Adams' Battle Against Breast Cancer.

I’m reaching out to ask for your support for one of our own, Coach Evan Adams, who is currently battling breast cancer. As many of you know, Coach Adams has been an integral part of our school community over the past five years, dedicating her time, energy, and passion to our students both in the classroom and athletic playing field. Now, she needs our help.

This past summer, she discovered that she had Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer. In the coming months, Coach Adams will face several treatments that will require her time, focus, and strength.
