I would like to give a shout out to Ms. Barbara, a custodian in Leconte Hall, who helped me get to my class today while I was on crutches and made sure I had everything I needed. She kept coming back to check on me throughout the time I was in the building and let the office know of my situation so I could get a key to the lift for the building.
Ms. Barbara was extremely kind and helpful to me in a situation where I was having difficulty. I am very thankful for the help she gave me.
Thanks UGA FMD
Plumbing Shop in the trenches!!
To all my fellow workers in the grounds department and heavy equipment shop I want to tell you what a great job everyone did getting campus back in shape after Irma came through. We don't get a hole lot of respect from people on campus but we worked our tails off and got things cleaned up and looking good again. You should all be proud of the hard work you put in this week!! Campus looks great!!
Congratulations Nathan on passing your 4th class stationary engineers test! We are all very proud of you.

The Facilities Management Division Maintenance Project Management Department will require a partial road closure on S. Newton Street. A portion of S. Newton Street, south of Weir Circle and north of the ACC residential community parking access driveway, will be closed to through-traffic and on-street parking. The closure will take place on Wednesday, March 24th from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This is necessary to unload and fly the new Cooling Tower up to its rooftop support platform at the District Energy Plant (DEP1). Traffic control measures including signage and flaggers will be in place. See attached map for site specifics.

Note: This crane lift operation is a virtual repeat of a very similar effort that took place back on Thursday March 11th. However, this lift requires a significantly larger crane with a wider footprint and it is imperative the entire roadway width be unobstructed by parked vehicles for the crane’s outriggers. In preparation for the upcoming operation scheduled for Wednesday 3/24 the Contractor will begin blocking off the on-street parking spaces as indicated on the attached aerial view of the site.

For additional information contact Chris Daigle, FMD Project Manager at (706) 248-7834 [email protected] or Jay Whitehead, FMD Superintendent at (706)-521-2014 [email protected].
