Experiential learning is a green light for success, and our Engineering Dawgs spending the summer in the fast lane🚦
Meet Reed, a civil engineering major who's out gaining real world experience with Kimley-Horn as a transportation intern, working on traffic impact and traffic engineering studies "for a variety of mixed-use, industrial, and even data center developments."
This Dawg is making all the right turns this summer 😎

Summer isn't just a time to recharge, it's an opportunity to gain experience- and right now, our Engineering Dawgs are all over the world making the most of it.
Meet Clara, a mechanical engineering major (and Digital Dawg!) who's spending the summer as an intern with Honeywell Aerospace in Arizona.
"My role involves collaborating across mechanical, electrical, systems, manufacturing, and project engineering groups to coordinate technical efforts, resolve challenges, and ensure project objectives stay on track. I'm gaining valuable insights into how complex aerospace systems are designed, tested, and brought into production while strengthening my technical communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills."
Clara is still making time for summer adventures: when she's not at her internship, you can find her out hiking with friends or going for a swim.
Follow along as we highlight more places our students are making an impact during the dawg days of summer! 🐶

For associate professor Matt Bilskie, research is all about risk.
As the principal investigator at the Coastal Ocean Analysis and Simulation Team (COAST), Bilskie works to understand hurricanes and coastal flooding, and help reduce their impact on communities.
He also recently helped launch the Center for Innovation in Risk, Catastrophes and Decisions (CIRCAD), a collaboration with the Terry College of Business and Duke University.
This research plays a central role in his teaching, helping students learn to navigate the complex landscape of catastrophe, insurance, and decisionmaking when it comes to coastal hazards.

In just five years of racing formula cars, UGA Motorsports is accelerating towards becoming a top program.
At last month's Formula SAE IC event at Michigan International Speedway, the UGA team placed first in the cost event- a first for the club, involving a comprehensive manufacturing and business analysis of the car based in real industry context- and 43rd overall out of 140 teams.
UGA Motorsports has involved over 1500 students since their founding in 2014. With milestones like these, they're just gearing up.

"I am an Engineer. In my profession I take deep pride.”
The countdown to convocation continues. Yesterday afternoon, graduating seniors took place in the Order of the Engineer ceremony. Upon reciting and accepting the Obligation of the Engineer, engineers receive a stainless steel ring, worn on the fifth finger of the working hand.
