AthHalf Half Marathon

AthHalf Half Marathon Experience the best the Classic City has to offer. The race starts in the dynamic downtown area. Pre and Post Race Events will round out the weekend.

AthHalf Half Marathon & 5K are annual road races through historic downtown Athens, GA, beautiful neighborhoods and the University of Georgia Campus, that raise money for AthFest Educates.
2026 dates: Half Marathon Oct. 11, 5K&Expo Oct. 10 As you wind through Athens' historic neighborhoods, through the historic UGA campus and finish up with a fantastic lap around the hedges inside the iconic Sanford Stadium (home of the UGA Bulldogs). You'll also run right by landmarks straight out of Athens' legendary musical history. The course will be challenging at times, but is well supported with ample hydration stops, energy gels, and lots of fun.

Want your friends and family to know exactly where you are during the race? Our friends at RaceJoy can help!

RaceJoy is a race-tracking app that uses a runner’s phone to share their live location and send automatic progress updates as they run. Whether watching from home or waiting at the finish line, your friends and family can follow along. Just make sure to download the app before race weekend and get your phone set up in advance.

Runners will need to carry their phones and activate tracking on race day for the features to work. The app is available for Apple and Android devices.

Race weekend starts right here. Come see us this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at the AthHalf Health and Fitness Expo! That's where you'll pick up your racing bib, T-shirt, and gear check bag before Sunday's race. To complete your pickup, make sure to have the QR code we sent you by email handy.

Can't make it there yourself? That's okay! Send a friend or family member to complete your pick up — just make sure they have your QR code with them.

One important reminder: There will be no bib transfers or race-day registration at the Expo. All transfers must be completed by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 8.

Alright, the T-shirts have arrived and we couldn't wait to show you how amazing they look! Runners in the 5K and the half marathon will both take home an official 2026 AthHalf T-shirt. We can't wait to see these around Athens!

Huge shout out to our theme designer, Maggie Baxter Dearth, and our graphic designer, Jackie Baxter Roberts, for designing these shirts, the participant medals, and many other things you'll see this weekend!

We've got our eye on the weather forecast for this weekend. Right now, rain is possible for both the 5K on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday, but don't stress out just yet! We're still several days out, and forecasts can change.

Here's what you need to know in the meantime:

🔹 The AthFest Educates 5K and the AthHalf Half Marathon are rain-or-shine events. A little rain won't stop us!

🔹 If extreme weather creates unsafe conditions and local authorities recommend changes, we may delay, modify, or cancel an event to protect our runners, volunteers, and staff. Registration fees remain nonrefundable if weather forces the race to be modified or canceled.

We'll keep watching the forecast as race day gets closer. Please keep an eye on your email and our social media channels for more updates. And maybe start thinking about packing an extra pair of dry socks!

We're still looking for volunteers to help make AthHalf possible this weekend. We really need some more course monitors. What's a course monitor? Well, these folks make sure runners are following the correct route. You keep folks safe and give runners the motivation to keep going.

And don't worry! You don't need to run. You just show up ready to help... and maybe bring your outside voice!
