On Monday, Oct 21, 2024, Georgia Organics is co-hosting a farmer field day with UGA Extension, UGA Horticulture, and the Athens Area Sustainable Growers Network. The field day will take place at the UGA Horticulture Research Farm in Watkinsville, GA from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Attendees will learn about:
- Cover cropping and utilizing no-till drills to improve soils, organic matter, and w**d control. (Dr. Kate Cassity-Duffey; Dr. Tim Coolong)
- On-farm residual herbicide test (Dr. Nick Basinger)
- Organic transition and overcoming common hurdles to organic certification (Daniel Sweeney, Seven Springs Farm Supply; Demetrius Miller and Russell Honderd, Love is Love Farm)
