Clarke Central's annual Open House will be held this Thursday, August 20th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Gladiator families are invited to meet students' teachers, tour the campus, and discover many of the great opportunities available at Clarke Central.

We're excited to officially kick off our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Art and Writing Contest! The contest is open to all CCSD students in grades K-12, and winners will be featured in a special district video, honored at a Board of Education meeting, and invited to attend UGA's annual MLK Freedom Breakfast in January! The submission deadline will be November 2, and schools will provide additional information regarding contest rules! We can't wait to see another year of outstanding and inspiring work from our Thriving Students!

Looking for a great way to get involved in helping promote a Culture of Literacy in CCSD? CCSD, Books for Keeps, and Creature Comforts' Get Comfortable child literacy initiative have teamed up for the Storytellers Literacy Mentor Program!

The Storytellers program originally started at Howard B. Stroud Elementary School, and has since expanded to Fowler Drive Elementary School and most recently, Judia Jackson Harris Elementary School.

Each mentor in the program will:
Meet with a first- or second-grader for 30-60 minutes once a week
Play provided literacy games during the visit
Read fun and high-interest books aloud with the student
Complete online and in-person training totaling approximately four hours.
