Congratulations to recent School of Law grad Rosalie Vendrell on being named an Outstanding Law Student Award recipient by the National Association of Women Lawyers. The honor recognizes law students who “promoted issues and concerns of women in the legal profession.”

The School of Law's advocacy program is counted among the best in the nation and helps to prepare our students to be effective advocates in and out of the courtroom. Recent rankings have UGA listed as #9 in the nation for both moot court and mock trial. Furthermore, over the past five years, UGA has captured 30 national/regional championships!

Congrats to recent Class of 2026 graduate Kellianne Elliott, along with rising third-year students Nick Ames and Jordan Elwarner, on receiving the Outstanding Clinic Team Award from the Clinical Legal Education Association!

Associate Professor Christian Turner has been selected as an AI and Society Fellow by the Center for AI Safety, where he will spend three months in San Francisco conducting research in AI governance and collaborating with academics in various fields.

Congratulations to Clinical Professor Emeritus Alex Scherr for receiving the National Law School Veterans Clinic Consortium's Founder’s Vision Award, which honors a professor or staff attorney for significant contributions to the veterans clinic community.

The University of Georgia School of Law joins in mourning the passing of Larry Walker Jr. This longtime public servant, distinguished lawyer and loyal alumnus was the recipient of the law school’s 1992 Distinguished Service Scroll Award. He is also the namesake of the law school’s Larry Walker Room, which was dedicated in 2001.

Congrats to second-year UGA Law student McKay Powers on being named a Bergstrom Child Welfare Law Fellow! This fellowship “is committed to inspiring the best and brightest law students to pursue careers in child welfare law.”

Congrats to recent UGA Law grad Dresden Day on finishing as a semifinalist at the Top Gun National Mock Trial Competition! This invitation-only tournament “pits the best advocates from the nation’s top 16 trial advocacy schools against each other.”

Congrats to recent UGA Law grads Dustin Batchelor and Maya Davis on being named Academic All-American Advocates by the National Association of Legal Advocacy Educators! Fewer than 30 students nationwide receive this prestigious honor annually.
