Spot on. My guy explains technique, finger numbers, and taught me a new word for “rote” learned from the internet: “synesthesia” Let’s add synesthesia to our toolbox (along with rote, sight-reading, directional reading, and playing by ear ), but it can’t be the only tool we use!!! (Sometimes you need a hammer, or a drill, or a wrench. Sometimes you need all of those and also a wire cutter. Let’s know how to use all the tools!)
