Dear Brothers:
2021 begins with wonderful news. In time for national founder’s day on February 19 2021, one of Georgia Alpha’s founding brothers, Bob Puechl, has created a scholarship.

The Puechl Family Annual Scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior with a 3.0 or above GPA. Other requirements include leadership, having a part time job and living in the house.

The $1,500 annual scholarship commences for the fall of 2021. The Housing Corporation will administer the scholarship and the process will begin this spring.
Give Bob a big thank you for this when you talk to him! He worked with the National Foundation and the Housing Corporation to make this happen!

The active chapter GPA was 3.34 for 37 men in the fall. That is an amazing GPA compared to my years in the early 80s. Eight of the men were on the Dean’s List in the fall.

In spite of the virus, the Chapter had a good fall & spring rush adding 20 men for the academic year. The men completed a big philanthropy project that provided backpacks with essential needs for 75 homeless people in Athens. Active brother, Andrew Benecchi, led the partnership with The Back Pack Project organization. This spring they hope to prepare a back pack of supplies for over 250 homeless people.

In January, alumni Ed Pinson, Tom Washburn and Richard Sheffield attended the chapter meeting to begin leadership training and planning for summer and fall. They are working with the active brothers and alumni to build an alumni mentor program for the chapter committee chairs like social, house, etc.

Several alumni have scheduled a tax deductible annual donation to the GA Housing Corporation through the foundation for every founder’s day. We hope you can join us and other brothers in supporting the chapter. Here is the link: https://www.pkpfoundation.org/make-an-impact/. Fill pull down menu with the Georgia Alpha Fund you want to support.

In October of this year we hope to build out the advisor corps and Housing Corporation with some new blood. We will need a few new members for each group.

We had a nice founder’s day celebration in 2020, no event planned this year. We hope we can return to a more normal time in 2022.

Your Brothers,
Wil Bosbyshell… Badge 63 HC President
Ed Pinson… Badge 120 Chapter Advisor
Trey Smith… Badge 543 Active Alumni Chair
