Our Mindful Writing Workshop for Geographers was truly an unforgettable event!

This event was an opportunity for students to slow down, reflect on writing as a process, and connect with other students who are also navigating thesis and dissertation writing in Geography. The day combined mindful writing practices, shared experiences, and community conversation.

During the writing workshop, students learned about how to incorporate research-backed strategies into their existing writing practices, giving particular attention to common challenges such as procrastination, endless revising, and fear of feedback. After the writing workshop, students participated in a mindful session designed specifically for graduate students navigating the stress and pressure of thesis writing, with the goal of equipping them with simple, effective tools to use in real time to regulate stress, regain clarity, and sustain momentum in their academic work.
