Squash Your Waste Week 1 Update!!

So far, Boggs is in the lead but not by much! Keep using those compost bins to boost your hall. Remember to only compost things that were once alive 🍃🍂(except dairy or meat)!!

Let’s see if Boggs can hold on to this lead. 👀👀

It is that time again… the Fall Sustainability Fair is back! Come join us THIS THURSDAY from 6:00-8:00 pm to learn all about sustainability here on campus. Along with the tabling, we will also be announcing the winner of Commit to the Bin ♻️👑!

The event is open to all students, so we hope to see you all there! 🌎🌎

Week 1 of Commit to the Bin is complete!

So far, we have reigning champs ( ) in the lead, but and Rooker/Busbee are not far behind. 👀👀

We got over 175 student signatures this week, so let’s aim for 200 this week!

On Friday of last week, the EcoReps and a few interns had the opportunity to tour the Athens-Clarke County Recovered Materials Processing Facility! ♻️♻️♻️

We left with an abundance of knowledge about ACC’s sorting and recycling processes. Seeing the conditions of the RMPH firsthand, and the piles and piles of stuff that we discard, left a deep impression on the group.

Please take the employees of the RMPH who physically sort our materials into consideration and recycle with care! Dispose of batteries properly at the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM) and keep food, film, and foam out of your bin. 🚮♻️🌍 Thank you !!!!

Earlier this month the EcoReps got the chance to attend the Southeastern Student Sustainability Conference at Duke University! We had a blast meeting students and staff involved in sustainability all around us! It was inspiring to hear from students about current and future projects, and we hope to incorporate that spirit right here in Athens.
