The Bobcat Readers Program is a FREE reading tutoring program at The Patton College of Education! 📚

🗓️ Weekly, starting Wednesday, September 23, 2026
⏰4:30-5:15 pm
📍Stevens Center for Literacy and STEM Education, 218K, located on the second floor of the Patton College (down from the second-floor restrooms).

Your child/children will be tutored by a junior teacher candidate that is enrolled in a literature-centered reading course. Grounded in the science of reading, this course introduces theories of language acquisition and reading development. Teacher candidates will be learning to use a variety of literacy assessment tools and lesson frameworks that include word identification, spelling, fluency, comprehension, and writing

This week, campers have been exploring the wildlife, history, and culture of the Appalachian region! One of their adventures included learning about native fish species and fishing at Strouds Run State Park. With beautiful weather and plenty of enthusiasm, campers had the opportunity to put their new fishing skills into practice. Stay tuned—more photos and highlights from our Appalachian adventures are still to come!

Missed the first few weeks of Green STEM Camp? No worries—there's still time to join the adventure!

Next week's theme is "The Mountains and Me," and campers will spend the week exploring the wildlife, history, and culture of the Appalachian region. Highlights include field trips to the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development (COAD), Strouds Run State Park for fishing, and Baileys Trail System for a hike and traditional storytelling. Families are invited to participate in all field trips!

Other exciting activities include weaving, Appalachian cooking, and plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration. Plus, don't forget that every camper receives a free child + adult ticket to the Copperheads game on Wednesday, June 24!
