Continuing our 2026-27 school-level Teacher/Support Professional of the Year spotlights with a look at the Howard B. Stroud Elementary School Teacher of the Year, Loleeta Linston-Jones!

Ms. Linston-Jones has been with CCSD since January 2000 when she started as a substitute teacher before obtaining her certification later that year. She has been at her current school since August 2000 when it was Fourth Street Elementary and was also named the school’s Teacher of the Year in 2009.

Ms. Linston-Jones’ biggest influence in education was her mother, R.L. “Peggy” Linston, who taught for 30 years at Cedar Shoals High School (1972-2002).

“I truly admired her commitment to her students as well as her career in education,” says Ms. Linston-Jones. “My absolute favorite part about job is serving various grade levels. As an EIP (Early Intervention Program) teacher, I take pride in working with multiple students, which enables me to help and support students who are struggling academically. My reward is witnessing my students’ progress and successes.”

Ms. Linston-Jones attended Alabama A&M University and Oakwood University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1999, a master’s in Elementary Education from Piedmont College in 2005, and an education specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont in 2008. She loves cats and has three of her own – Jody (Main Coon-tabby mix), Alice (Tabby), and Smoke (Black Tabby). She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and is also a passionate advocate for those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

While Ms. Linston-Jones is , her family is CCSD Proud! In her addition to her mother, her aunt, Rosetta Strong, spent more than 20 years with CCSD Transportation, her brother, Lee Linston IV, is the CCSD Warehouse supervisor, and her cousin, Dr. Swade Huff, is the principal of Clarke Central High School.

Please join us in congratulating Loleeta Linston-Jones, Teacher of the Year! And check back in later today at 4 p.m. for our next TOTY-SPOTY spotlight!
