Sabrina Day, Master of Applied Arts in Health graduate student, is completing her internship at The Birth Circle. Her culminating project seeks to create intergenerational connection through art collaboration.

We’re excited to be partnering with The Birth Circle, Hickory Creek of Athens, and Ohio University Applied Arts in Health for this incredible project! 🤝

This Friday, July 17th at 10:00am, our music therapist Hannah Westfall (provided by the REID Foundation), Courtney Knoch (The Birth Circle) and Sabrina Day (Arts in Health intern/graduate student) are heading to Hickory Creek for a music and arts group centered around collaboration & intergenerational connections. This is the third Lullabies for Healthy Lives group (normally littles & their caregivers) that has combined older adults and their families at Hickory Creek since December 2025. 🎼💜

Weaving Connections is an intergenerational arts project in partnership with the Athens Birth Circle, Hickory Creek Nursing Center, and The REID Foundation/Central
Ohio Music Therapy. The project, led by arts in health intern Sabrina, aims to connect individuals through two large weavings. The artists will choose fabric strips to respond to the prompt: “What does collaboration mean or feel like to you?”. Once discussed or written with fabric markers, artists will weave their fabric into the loom structure, cementing themselves as part of their built community. As each artist adds their contribution, a large weaving will take form. The finished products will be displayed at Hickory Creek and The Nest (Athens Birth Circle’s physical location) as a testament to the community connections forged via the artistic collaboration. The weaving will aim to produce increased social connections with participants as well as contribute positively towards wellbeing.

Join us to be a part this collaborative art project, and make some music this Friday morning!

The OHIO Master of Applied Arts in Health program is a 30-credit OHIO Online program. Students from all arts disciplines take asynchronous courses that fit into their work life while also having on the ground opportunities in their own communities.

The 180-hour professional internship helps students gain important skills, knowledge, and connection for the next steps in their careers.

Apply to enroll in either fall, spring, or summer semesters and complete the program in one year (full-time) or two years (part-time).

Apply by August 3rd for fall 2026 enrollment!

The National Organization for Arts in Health is an organization that brings important resources to members who include practitioners, creative arts therapists, educators, and artists of all disciplines.

Several OHIO Master of Applied Arts in Health students are completing their professional internships this summer across Ohio, in NYC, and Boston. They are developing their culminating projects and when they complete their internship and successfully defend their projects, they will become August graduates!
