50 years of compassionate care 🩺
In September 1976, 24 OHIO students became the inaugural cohort of the state’s first osteopathic medical school. Less than a decade later, the College of Osteopathic Medicine was quickly establishing itself as a pioneer in medical research, enrolling 100 students every year.
Now known as the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, the college continues to bring holistic and groundbreaking medical care to patients. With three campuses across Ohio and a new state-of-the-art research facility opening in Athens in late 2026, there’s no sign of slowing down for the state’s leading producer of primary care physicians.
