Miss Bonnie made some new friends at the MLC today! She heard that a few students were off to some economics classes, and she wanted to know if she's charging the correct amount of crickets for this type of work. Please advise. 🤔📈🦗
She knows y'all are all out here working hard, and she's so proud! 😊🕷️
Thanks to all the students who stopped by today! We had an absolute blast chatting with you! 🪲🧬❤️🖤

Hey there, my name is Zachary Krausman, and I am an arthropod appreciator. Despite being afraid of many insects and arachnids for most of my life, I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Entomology in August 2024 and now I work as a lab tech with Dr. Champagne and his students on Insecticide Resistance in Diamondback Moths and Whiteflies. I found that once I learned and understood our exoskeleton-adorned friends, I became quite enamored by them. One of the greatest genre subversions of my life is my relationship with arachnids. Turns out they are important and beautiful and full of vibrant character and personality. I cannot wait to study them in graduate school!
Some of my favorite entomological experiences were my REU at UF working with jumping spider color vision and foraging behavior, going on the Tropical Entomology and Evolutionary Biology in Ecuador and the Galápagos Study Away Course, and taking a spider biology course at the American Museum of Natural History Southwestern Research Station. There have been so many wonderful experiences and people I have met through my path at UGA and Entomology, and I am so grateful for them.
When I am not traipsing through the forest (or desert) looking for arthropods, you can find me enjoying type 2 fun activities like hiking, climbing, and convincing people that spiders are actually awesome and they won’t eat you or your dog!

Hello! I am a second-year entomology major minoring in biomedical physiology and pursuing the GIS certificate. I’m most interested in insect classification as well as arthropod vectors of human diseases. Currently, I work in both the Black Fly lab and the McHugh systematics lab, where I help research firefly evolution! One of my favorite experiences with entomology so far has been doing the natural history museum internship in the entomology collection. Outside of classes, I play viola with the UGA Philharmonic orchestra and help run the undergraduate entomology club as well as a couple of other nature focused clubs on campus. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite insect, but I always get excited when I spot a Hercules beetle or a Tachinid fly!
