With passionate faculty, access to emerging technologies, and hands-on learning environments, New Media students explore and build innovative new media solutions for real-world problems and establish connections that lead to jobs. All this is accomplished through two main initiatives: the New Media Certificate and the Emerging Media Masters.

New Media Certificate:
The New Media I
nstitute houses the University of Georgia's largest certificate program, the New Media Certificate. This certificate supplements any undergraduate major or graduate concentration and is a credential that demonstrates a student is technowledgable. This means they have an understanding of new media technologies and their application in a chosen field. Certificate students have access to hands-on classroom environments, innovative technologies and networking opportunities that lead to J-O-B-S. To earn the certificate, a student must complete 17 credit hours: 11 hours of NMIX core curriculum plus 6 elective hours. Throughout their certificate journey, students explore the foundation, production, and deployment of new media technologies and their applications in their chosen field.

Emerging Media Masters:
Housed in the New Media Institute and the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, the Emerging Media Masters concentration focuses on the intersection of technology and design, allowing individuals to explore the various facets, roles, and applications of emerging media across an array of disciplines and careers. Designed to accommodate students and professionals from a variety of backgrounds and industries, this program is intended for individuals who wish to further personal career goals and those of their employers through the leveraging of emerging media and innovative technologies.
