Have you ever painted outside? Some artists set up their easels in nature and paint what they see. This is called panting en plein air [ahn plen air]. Try it yourself! Grab some art supplies and head outside. Find something beautiful like a tree or a flower, and draw what you see. Swipe for inspiration!

Introducing CMA 2026 guest artists!
Gabriela Lena Frank, composer.

Beyond composing, Frank is a climate activist and educator who founded the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music in 2017. We really can't say it any better than this. Brian's love of art and his ability to share it with others really struck a chord with us. 💔
With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Brian Dixon from Very Good Puzzle. If you’ve been to the market or one of the many events in Athens, then you likely have met Brian. His joyous, quirky and warm energy could be felt whenever in his presence. His smile and charm radiated throughout our community.
Not only was he a supporter and collector of the Arts, he was also a passionate creative. His spark will always be felt in those who got to spend time with him. He and his wife Paige have created a staple in the Arts community of Athens with their puzzles.
We ask that you give grace, support and love to Paige during this difficult time. We will be organizing ways for the community to support her and Very Good Puzzle so please look out for ways you can help.
May you puzzle with love in memory of Brian ❤️

Family Day is today, April 18, from 10 a.m. to noon. Discover the art of storytelling with interactive gallery activities, storytime in the lobby and a take-home book arts project. Please note: this Saturday is G Day, the University of Georgia football team's annual spring scrimmage game. Parking will likely be a little harder to come by than usual but should still be free in most lots. Heading to the game? Stop in on your way and make some art.

If you were to create your own book, what would it be about? Artist books are works of art in the form of a book. Swipe to see Joyce Wellman's “Mutual 3,5,7.” This artist book is part of her “Number Book” series that pays tribute to her mother, Hattie, who enjoyed “playing” mathematics.
